2. Fred Frederick Wilhelm² Speckmann (Wilhelm Carl Frederick¹) was born in Berlin, Germany January 13, 1889. Fred died November 1956 at 67 years of age.

He married Mattie Belle Haight. Mattie was born in Chicago, Cook, IL November 30, 1890. Mattie was the daughter of Orton Payne Haight and Edna Belle Miller. Mattie died October 10, 1961 at 70 years of age.

Fred Frederick Wilhelm Speckmann and Mattie Belle Haight had the following children:

9 i. Dorothy Belle (Dot)³ Speckmann was born in Chicago, Cook, IL March 6, 1913. Dorothy died March 18, 2010 in Berlin, WI, at 97 years of age. She married twice. She married Alvin in Illinois, abt 1935. Alvin was divorced from Dorothy Belle (Dot) Speckmann in Illinois, abt 1937. She married Austin John Vanderford in Elgin, IL, January 29, 1938. Austin was born in Gladbrook, Tama County, IA January 26, 1915. Austin was the son of William Austin Vanderford and Rose Ernestine Miller. Austin died June 29, 1988 in Pine River, WI, at 73 years of age. His body was interred July 2, 1988 in Poy Sippi, WI, Poy Sippi Cemetery. Dorothy was divorced from Alvin in Illinois, abt 1937. Below is Dorothy Vanderford's obituary:

Dorothy B. Vanderford of Redgranite, Wisconsin, age 97, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at the Brown-Wilcox Home in Berlin, WI under hospice care. She was born March 6, 1913 in Chicago, IL; daughter of Fritz Fredrick Wilhelm and Mattie Belle (Haight) Speckmann. On January 29, 1938, Dorothy married Austin “Ausy” Vanderford in Elgin, IL. He preceded her in death on June 29, 1988. One of Dorothy’s passions was reading. She also loved socializing with others and going out to eat with her daughter-in-law, Carol. She was a member of the Poy Sippi United Methodist Church in Poy Sippi, WI. Dorothy will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

Son: Kenneth (Martha) Vanderford of Wiggins, MS

Daughters: Connie (Edward) Poole of Murphy, NC

JoAnne (Ron) McCulla of Mesa, AZ

Loving Daughter-in-law: Carol Vanderford of Redgranite, WI

Brother: Jack (Eunice) Speckmann of Flushing, MI

She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Austin “Ausy” Vanderford; an infant son, Dale Vanderford; her son, Russell Vanderford; two brothers; and one sister.

A graveside service was held on April 7, 2010 at the Poy Sippi Cemetery in Poy Sippi, WI. Reverend George Groves officiated. The Holly Funeral Home of Poy Sippi assisted the family with arrangements.

10 ii. Fred William Speckmann was born March 6, 1913. Fred died September 1959 at 46 years of age. He married Josephine Petragala. Fred and Dorothy were twins. Fred took his own life in 1959.

12 iv. Marie Jeanice Speckmann was born December 29, 1919. She married James William Combs. James was born March 7, 1914. (See James William Combs for the continuation of this line.)
